Although it might seem like it, no, I haven’t fallen off the face of the planet. Instead, I’ve been a victim of that rare phenomenon of nature that hits Oklahoma about once every five years: the freak ice storm. Early on the morning of Monday the 10th it crept in, and before we knew it, OKC was frozen over.

Only in OKC – Will’s, Saturn Grill, and Madison’s
December 29th, 2007 · No Comments
Are you hungry? I hope so, because I have three great places to eat for you! I love to eat out, so much so that sometimes, I’ll actually have every meal at a restaurant. Here are three of my favorite places that you can hit in a day, so if you’re looking to plan out your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, here’s one possible combination.
Breakfast – Will’s Coffee
Located on Western in the Will Rogers Theater (near Musashi’s and Sushi Neko), Will’s Coffee is a little coffee shop that offers a nice variety of drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. The prices aren’t any more expensive than Starbucks, and in my opinion, the drinks are better. The people at Will’s are always very friendly, too.

Only in OKC – Bricktown
December 29th, 2007 · No Comments
Oklahoma City has several unique areas that are great to visit, and one of these is Bricktown, the downtown area that the city has spent the past five years building up. I remember a time when there wasn’t much to do in downtown Oklahoma City other than visiting the Civic Center for performances or walking around the Myriad Gardens. Now, Bricktown has become a major hub in the city.
It all started with the building of the Bricktown Ballpark. The ballpark is one of the major draws to the area, and it’s been rated one of the nicest minor league stadiums in the country. Mickey Mantle Stadium, as it is properly called, lights up the area regularly with baseball games and other events.

The Oklahoma City Boat Show
December 29th, 2007 · No Comments
Sometimes, you just wonder about things. Like why do we have a boat show in the middle of winter? Well, I really can’t answer that question, but if you love to boat around on one of Oklahoma’s lakes or fish, you’ll enjoy a trip to the 2008 Oklahoma City Winter Boat Show. The show runs from January 24th to the 27th and is held at the Oklahoma City State Fairgrounds.

Opening Night 2008
December 1st, 2007 · No Comments
Well, 2007 is nearly gone, and while it might seem like we just ushered 2006 out the door, it’s almost that time again. If you’re in Oklahoma City during the New Year celebration, we’ve got a great event for you to attend: Opening Night, the annual OKC celebration that takes place downtown.
This year will mark the 20th anniversary of Opening Night, and the event has certainly grown from its 1987 debut. This year’s event is going to be a little different, too. While you can still get into everything that the traditional Opening Night festivities include, there’s also a separate concert with Oklahoma’s own Grammy-award-winning group, the Flaming Lips!
