Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo – April 11

Do you love video games?  If you do, you may be very interested in the Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo and Multimedia Conference.  The expo is scheduled for April 11 at Oklahoma City Community College.  The expo starts at 10 that morning and runs until 5.  Admission is free!

There are two major parts to the expo: the gaming tournaments and the sessions.  If you’re interested in learning more about the video game industry, you’ll really enjoy some of the speakers.  The presentations include a game designer’s panel, a discussion of the game development process hosted by professionals from P. L. Studio, a presentation on collecting classic games by Rob O’Hara, the author of “Invading Spaces: A Beginner’s Guide to Collecting Arcade Games,” and a panel on making flash games.  Again, these panels are all open to the public at no charge.

New Legislation for a Ten Commandments Monument?

If you’re not familiar with the first amendment of the United States Constitution, it has a bit about separation of church and state.  Well, Oklahoma Representative Mike Ritze apparently hasn’t read that bit…he has recently introduced legislation in the Oklahoma house to “create and build a monument that both displays and honours the Ten Commandments of the Biblical Old Testament…on the grounds of the State Capitol.”

The Wedge Pizzeria

I recently had a chance to eat lunch and then dinner (well, not in the same day!) at the Wedge Pizzeria.  Located at 4709 North Western Avenue, the Wedge is an unique place to have a pizza pie.

One of the great things about the Wedge is their variety of toppings.  They have pizzas that include walnuts, figs, goat cheese, prosciutto, kalamata olives, and much more in addition to standard toppings like pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and olives.  All of their pizzas are baked in a brick oven on their signature crust.  They also have some very interesting appetizers like proscuitto wrapped pears, meatballs, and more.  If you’re looking for a nice beverage to compliment your pizza, the Wedge serves a variety of beer and has a nice wine list.

An Affair of the Heart FAQ

I’ve had a number of people leaving comments asking for more information about the An Affair of the Heart craft show.  Rather than responding individually to these readers, I thought I’d put together something of a FAQ for the event.

What are the next OKC shows?

The Oklahoma City An Affair of the Heart shows will be October 23, 24, and 25 for 2009 and February 12, 13, and 14 in 2010.

When are the next Tulsa shows?

The Tulsa shows will be held July 17, 18, and 19 and November 20, 21, and 22.
