Mother’s Day is coming!  That and many other events await you in Oklahoma City this May.

May 1 – OKC Memorial Marathon starts on Broadway between NW 5th and 6th

May 2-3 – NBA Western Conference Semifinals at the OKC Arena

May 2-5 – OKC RedHawks vs Nashville Sounds at the Bricktown Ballpark

May 6-8 – Downtown Edmond Arts Festival

May 6 – Go Radio performs at the Conservatory

May 6 – Space Day at Science Museum Oklahoma

May 7 – Children’s Concert with Spaghetti Eddie at Uptown Kids

El Reno Fried Onion Burger Day

Oklahoma is known for some odd things, including cooking the world’s largest fried onion hamburger once a year.  This event takes place in El Reno, which is just a short drive from the heart of Oklahoma City.  It’s held the first Saturday of May, which is May 7th this year (also the day before Mother’s Day—hey, why not take mom to see a big burger?).

Small Italian Restaurant Setting Provides Homemade Ingredients to Oklahoma City Guests

If you are like me, then you enjoy finding small, out of the way restaurants because you never know what you are going to find.  The other day I joined my brother and his family for dinner at The Caffé Pranzo.  When we first stepped into the restaurant I was not sure of what we were going to find; however, we were instantly greeted with a warm welcome and seated at a nearby table.  The atmosphere is intimate and the walls are decorated with a wide variety of local art that is readily available for sale if you find a piece that you like.  Also, each table has a different interesting set of salt and pepper shakers, and there is a small collection of other shakers on display, creating a unique look and feel.
