Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo – April 11

Do you love video games?  If you do, you may be very interested in the Oklahoma Electronic Game Expo and Multimedia Conference.  The expo is scheduled for April 11 at Oklahoma City Community College.  The expo starts at 10 that morning and runs until 5.  Admission is free!

There are two major parts to the expo: the gaming tournaments and the sessions.  If you’re interested in learning more about the video game industry, you’ll really enjoy some of the speakers.  The presentations include a game designer’s panel, a discussion of the game development process hosted by professionals from P. L. Studio, a presentation on collecting classic games by Rob O’Hara, the author of “Invading Spaces: A Beginner’s Guide to Collecting Arcade Games,” and a panel on making flash games.  Again, these panels are all open to the public at no charge.

If you’re an avid gamer yourself and want to compete against others, there are four different game tournaments you can enter: Street Fighter IV, Soul Calibur, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and Mario Kart.  There’s a small $1.00 entry fee for each tournament, and half of those fees go to the Child’s Play Charity.

In addition to the panels and the tournaments, the expo features an exhibitors room.  Here, you’ll find merchandise for sale, gaming professionals to meet, and more.  Local artists and authors will also be attending the expo.

Want to find out more?  Check out the expo website at  They’ve posted all the entry forms, rules, and directions to the community college.
