2009 Festival of the Arts

It’s April, and that means it’s time for one of Oklahoma City’s largest arts events—the Oklahoma Festival of the Arts.  This year, the festival will be April 21 through 26 and, as always, it will stretch across the Festival Plaza, the Myriad Botanical Gardens, and the Stage Center.  The festival opens at 11:00 a.m. each day and closes at 9:00 p.m. with the exception of Sunday, when everything wraps up at 6:00 p.m.  Admission to the festival is free.

If you haven’t been to the arts festival before, I highly encourage you to attend.  In addition to some amazing art, you can also check out the live entertainment and eat some great carnival food.  If you’ve got children, they will have a blast playing in the hands-on Children’s Area (there is a $2 cost for this, but that’s only because your kids will actually get to keep the artwork they make).  As always, the festival brings a ton of great artists to OKC, including artists from Wisconsin, Kansas, George, California, New Mexico, and Virginia, among others.  You can find more information and complete lists of artists, entertainers, and food vendors at http://www.artscouncilokc.com/festival-of-the-arts.
