Cheap Lunch – Jeff’s Country Café

I’ve driven past Jeff’s Country Café on Classen very often.  I pass it every time I go to the grocery store, in fact.  However, I’d only eaten there once, and that was five years ago.  When my mom was in town the other day, we decided to stop in and see how Jeff’s was.  The result: cheap food that tasted great.

Last time I was in Jeff’s was before Oklahoma’s smoking laws went into effect.  These laws basically gave restaurants two choices: they could go all smoking and post this fact on the door, or they could build a separately ventilated room for their smoking section.  Some, like most IHOPs, became completely non-smoking.  Others, like Jeff’s and our local TGI Fridays, built a separate room.  This makes Jeff’s very friendly to both smokers and non-smokers alike.

Jeff’s is very aptly named as a country café.  It has that great old time, greasy spoon feeling.  The menu offers many selections—you’ll find fried chicken, breakfast, hamburgers, sandwiches, and more.  Don’t forget to leave room for dessert, either.  I had a breakfast ham, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a pancake.  It was incredibly good, and the bill for two meals (my mom had a cheeseburger) and two drinks was only a little over $10!  You can’t get much better than that for lunch on a budget.

If I had to say anything negative about Jeff’s, it would be that the portions are a bit on the small side.  For example, only one pancake came with my meal, while the same type of breakfast combo at either IHOP or Beverly’s would have had two.  However, the price was a good dollar or more less than I’d pay at either of those restaurants.  If you want a huge meal, Jeff’s probably isn’t the place for you.  However, if you want a quick lunch that has as much food as you’d get at a fast food place but tastes much, much better, Jeff’s is perfect.
