Want an Interesting Evening? Take a Tour of an Oklahoma Winery

If you are like me, then you may have been previously oblivious to the fact that Oklahoma is becoming well known for its wine.  While it is not a traditional wine region like the Napa Valley in California, there are several interesting wineries popping up in the region.  Plus, for a relatively inexpensive amount of money you can take a tour and own a bottle of your own Oklahoma wine.

I would not have known about the many winery options in the area if it hadn’t been for a friend of mine who got married at Redstone Vineyard in Luther, Oklahoma.  On the way there I kept wondering what I was in for as we wound our way through country roads.  After all, I had never been to a winery before, let alone that this one was situated in Oklahoma.  However, I found that I was pleasantly surprised with both the taste and quality of the wine as well as the area where the vineyard was located and the wedding was held.

After this I found out that you can take tours of this winery and several others.  These tours often include a tasting and a complimentary bottle of wine, and there are several wineries in the Oklahoma City region that you can choose from.

Wineries located near Oklahoma City:

Chapel Creek Winery – El Reno

Native Spirits Winery – Norman

Put A Cork In It Winery – Bricktown/Oklahoma City

Redstone Vineyards and Winery – Luther

Tres Suenos Vineyards and Winery – Luther

Sand Hill Vineyards – Calumet

Woodland Park Vineyard and Winery – Stillwater

Deer Creek Vineyard – Edmond

Moonfeathers Winery – Gutherie

Tidal School Vineyards – Drumright

StableRidge Vineyards & Winery – Stroud

As you can see this is just a sampling of the wineries that are open for tasting and touring in Oklahoma, and they are all within easy driving distance from the metro area.  This makes them the perfect little adventure spots for a relaxing day trip.

Wine politics?  Yes, just like any industry, the wine world has its own unique issues.  Wine Without Borders talks about one of them.
