Red Earth Native American Cultural Festival

If you have ever been interested in learning more about Native American culture, then you will want to make sure that you attend the Red Earth Festival.  This is because for three days Oklahoma City becomes the epicenter for a large group of more than one thousand different Native American dancers and artists from all across the continent.  You will be able to explore and learn about these cultures in a completely hands-on and interactive style that immerses you in the customs and beliefs of these great people.

The good news is that whether you are interested in learning more about the dancing and celebration events or want to purchase some traditional Native American artwork, there will be something at the festival for you to enjoy.  That is because you will be able to look through and sample beadwork, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, paintings, baskets, and traditional attire, if you are more interested in the art show and market.  However, there is also a renown dance competition that features the best dancers from different tribes across the continent of North America.  You will be able to watch as these accomplished dancers exhibit their original moves while incorporating traditional tribal aspects as well.

If you are interested in attending the festival, then you will be glad to know that it runs from Friday, June 3rd until Sunday, June 5th, at the Cox Convention Center in the middle of downtown Oklahoma City.  To kick off the events, there is a large grand paraded that will begin on that Friday morning at 10:00 am.  It is a unique and different experience that you will not want to miss as there are more than one hundred different tribes will march down the streets outfitted in full tribal gear.  The colorful and bright display makes this one of the most interesting and singular parades in all of America.  If you are planning on attending the Red Earth Festival as it celebrates its twenty-fifth year, then the opening day parade is a spectacular event that you will want to make sure that you do not miss.
