If you live in Oklahoma City or the surrounding area and you are looking for a unique Mexican dining experience, then you will want to try Abel’s Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant is technically located in Warr Acres on 50th and MacArthur. This establishment is one that will open up your taste buds as well as cause you to re-evaluate Mexican food restaurants in general. The reason for this is that Abel’s has a wide menu range that offers everything from large burritos that fill up an entire plate to homemade shrimp cocktail.
Something else to consider about Abel’s is the décor and the friendliness of the staff. I have never been at a time where I had to wait for my drink, chips, salsa, and free queso, to be refilled, and my order has never been wrong. On several different occasions when I’ve gone the owner himself has come out and gone around to the tables to make sure that everything is going well and that you are happy with your order.
While I have eaten there several times, two of my favorite dishes feature shrimp: Shrimp Cocktail and Shrimp Tostadas. Both of these dishes feature shrimp, avadaco, and cilantro, creating the perfect blend of sweet and sour for me. However, my friend that I like to go with prefers the egg and chorizo mixture because they say that it is more authentic Mexican food that they had when they visited their extended family.
So, if you are in the mood for food that fits the spirit and feel of traditional Mexican then you will want to make sure that you stop in at some point to Abel’s and try a little bit of what they have to offer.
