Great Ways to Save in Oklahoma City with the Keep it Local Card

If you are like me, then you probably like to go and explore the city and all that it has to offer as frequently as you can.  I have found that I am particularly fond of finding things that are local and are distinctively Oklahoman.  Because of this I was very excited to find out about the Keep it Local card.  I hadn’t read anything about it or seen any advertisements, but rather I noticed this stack of cards sitting on the countertop of my local coffee house.  So, I was excited to learn that this card offered a wide variety of discounts at local merchants that I would frequent anyway.  Plus, the ten dollars that I spent on the card was going to be used to help boost the local economy, which is something that appealed to me greatly.

Since getting the card I have found that it is available at a number of different locations, not just the eating establishments.  For example, you can also get discounts at everything from Lyric Theater tickets to piercings at 23rd Street Body Piercing.  The card is simple to use, and all you have to do is go to their website at and look up your city to find all of the discounts that are available to you.

If this seems too complicated, then you can simplify it by downloading the app, which will calculate where you are in the metro area and show you what places are near that you can use the card.  This way you can plan out your daily events in a way that will not only save you money, but will also work to help with the local economy.  Most of the merchants that are listed on the card also sell them, or if you prefer you can buy the card online.  And, since the card is good until the end of 2012, now is the perfect time to invest in the card and the local economy of Oklahoma City.

A few blogs about the Keep It Local Card:

Although it’s for last year, the Shopcrawlr 2011 Keep It Local Holiday Guide lists a lot of great local OKC businesses.

The Directory of Oklahoma City blog also talks about the card.

Adam Knapp also talks about the card on his blog.

Need flowers?  Here’s the blog for Capitol Hill Florist, a Keep It Local participant.  It’s just one example of what you can get with this card.
