Movie Theaters in OKC

Looking to catch a movie while you’re in Oklahoma City?  There are a number of theaters you can go to, but the largest (and, in my opinion, nicest) are Harkins, Dickenson Penn Square 10, AMC Quail Springs Mall 24, and Cinemark TinselTown.

Harkins

Harkins is the newest theater in Oklahoma City.  It’s one of the centerpieces of Bricktown, the revamped downtown area of Oklahoma City.  The theater has sixteen different screens, including the Cine Capri.  The Cine Capri is the largest movie screen in Oklahoma City, and if you really want to feel like you’re in the middle of the action, this is the theater for you.  The seats are incredibly comfortable, and all theaters have stadium seating, so you won’t be trying to look around anyone’s head.

Only in OKC – Rococo Restaurant

Looking for something a little different than the usual steak, seafood, or lobster?  Then you’ll want to try Rococo’s, an East coast restaurant that features some very different entrees.  Oh, sure, you can get a burger, fettuccine alfredo, or a chicken salad, but you can also try things like Prince Edward Island mussels, Long Island duck, or the roast rack of Colorado lamb.

Only in OKC – the Conservatory

Sometimes, you want to be among thousands of people at a huge concert, but sometimes, if you’re like me, you want to go to a smaller venue where you won’t be trapped in wall to wall people.  One of the best places to hang out with friends and listen to live music is the Conservatory, a small music venue and bar that books smaller groups and local bands.  The musical style is mostly indie and punk with a bit of Goth thrown in.

Only in OKC – Cattleman’s Restaurant

Looking for a great steak?  Then you need to look no farther than Cattleman’s, one of Oklahoma’s most well-known restaurants.  Opening in 1910, Cattleman’s first catered to the ranchers and cowboys who worked and lived new Oklahoma City’s stockyards area.  Today, the restaurant still operates in the same area, but people from all over the city and state come to have one of their classic sirloins.

February 2008 in OKC

February is one of the colder months in Oklahoma City; in fact, our cold season usually centers around February.  This year has been no exception – while it was in the 60s the other day, most days of the month have been freezing cold.  To that extent, very few people want to be outside during the month.  Fortunately, there are a variety of events for OKC citizens and visitors to attend that don’t require spending a lot of time out in the chilly weather.

Only in OKC – Will’s, Saturn Grill, and Madison’s

Are you hungry?  I hope so, because I have three great places to eat for you!  I love to eat out, so much so that sometimes, I’ll actually have every meal at a restaurant.  Here are three of my favorite places that you can hit in a day, so if you’re looking to plan out your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, here’s one possible combination.

Breakfast – Will’s Coffee

Located on Western in the Will Rogers Theater (near Musashi’s and Sushi Neko), Will’s Coffee is a little coffee shop that offers a nice variety of drinks, pastries, and sandwiches.  The prices aren’t any more expensive than Starbucks, and in my opinion, the drinks are better.  The people at Will’s are always very friendly, too

Oklahoma Centennial Regatta – The Regatta, hosted by Chesapeake Energy and Oklahoma City University, is October 11 through the 14 and features rowing teams from around the US.  For an event that just began a few years ago, the regatta has become a huge weekend full of music, art, food, and more.

An Affair of the Heart craft fair – everyone who loves crafts and homemade items loves those times during the year (October and February) when the An Affair of the Heart show is held.  The event now takes up at least four huge buildings at the fair ground, and you almost need to take two days to see it all.

June – summertime in OKC

Well, June is yet another of our bipolar months.  While March can’t make up its mind between being warm and being freezing, June can’t decide between being a normal month and being a crazy one.  Some years, there’s not a drop of rain to be found for the entire month.  During these times, yards go from soft, vibrant greens to crunch browns and farmers go from nice, jovial guys to cranky, stressed out people who are forced to watch entire fields slowly wither away in the glaring heat.

Nic’s Grill Has Great Food but Little Seating

Oklahoma City has a lot of different cool little burger joints, but none of them is quite as little Nic’s Grill.  This small building sits on the corner of Pennsylvania and 12th street, but without its sign, you’d think it was a small house or even a storage building.  However, don’t judge Nic’s by its size—it’s a really awesome burger place!
